Nola Evans wrote us this after attending the October 6, 2007 Member Appreciation Day event:
I just wanted to thank everyone at Rock county electric for
the hospitality, food, and fun. My children both enjoyed the
jumping castle and my son especially liked the bucket ride.
I am very impressed that a company is still out there that
cares about their customers. A lot of work went into that day
and it looked like everyone (even the rock electric workers)
was having a great time.
The real reason I decided to email my appreciation is because
when I was waiting in line with my children for my son to take
a bucket ride, I saw an elderly gentleman was waiting to get
his turn in another bucket. It was obvious that the gentleman
had some difficulties with his legs. What I saw next impressed
me so much it brought my eyes to tears. When the gentleman
got his turn to get in the bucket 3 lineman stepped up to help
this man into the bucket. I thought that was the nicest thing
anyone could do for him at that time. No judgment was made
no questions were asked.
I had been talking to one of the linemen
when that gentleman came down from his bucket ride. Without
a second thought the lineman I was speaking with excused himself
and walked over to that bucket along with two others, put one
arm out for the man to grab their shoulders while the third
lineman stepped up to grab the mans legs and help him out.
They were so polite, gentle, caring and courteous. All I could
think of was that man is always going to remember that day
and those guys who without question jumped in and gave a hand.
I do not know the rock employees names that did that, but I
will never forget that day myself. They know who they are and
maybe someone else knows them. I just wanted to let them and
everyone else know that did not go unnoticed.
You have a great bunch of employees working at Rock County
Electric Coop and I am glad I was able to be that day.
I can only hope that when my children grow up I have taught
them to be that thoughtful and caring to help someone who is
less fortunate.
Elmer J. Thompson of Clinton, WI shared this rememberence with us recently:
Years ago when new poles were to be set past our place, I
noticed the stake for our proposed new pole was in the center
of a wild asparagus bed I had been keeping my eye on.
Partly "tongue in cheek" I sent a note to the co-op office stating that if it wouldn't throw the new line off balance and bring the wires down, I would really like to have the new pole set a foot or two in the opposite direction.
A few days later, I noticed they had done just that, and we are still enjoying the asparagus.
That's what the REC means to me: understanding and cooperation.
Long time members, Ron & Ardith Hemmersbach of Edgerton, WI associate the co-op with the growth of their farm.
We have been a member of REA Co-op (Rock Energy Co-op) for 30 years. I cannot express all the help REA has been for us as we began our farming career. We have totally rebuilt and rewired entire farm buildings. REA helped us with our central pole & meter to our corndryer and storage bin we erected 8-10 years ago! REA also helped answer many questions and concerns we had over the past 30 years.
…We are on the end of the line and were being struck by lightning many times losing many fences, phones, light bulbs and even our TV and water softener when REA installed surge protectors on our yard pole as well as on the line. It hasn’t been a problem since…
