Member Appreciation Day 2011

CFL Charlie was a special guest at Rock Energy Cooperative's Member Appreciation Day on Saturday, Sept. 17.
A record number of people—nearly 1,000—attended the pancake breakfast at the co-op's Janesville headquarters. The weather was as close to perfect as possible, and smiles were seen on faces everywhere.
This year's event was special as the co-op continued its 75th anniversary celebration. The breakfast was prepared by Chris Cakes pancake chefs, who used their fancy pancake flipping techniques to entertain the crowd.
In addition to breakfast, members participated in a health fair sponsored by Dean Health System, watched the Oregon Jugglers Group, and got a bird's-eye view of the area from a bucket truck.
Rock Energy directors and employees host the annual event to show members how thankful the co-op is to be their energy provider.

2010 Youth Tour to Washington, D.C.

Rachel MacDowell of Rockton, Ill., was selected to represent Rock Energy Cooperative during the 2010 Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. She toured Washington with about 1,500 young leaders from across the nation
and returned with a greater appreciation of the political
process and a better understanding of cooperative business
principles.

Nearly 700 Rock Energy Cooperative members, guests, and friends met on April 6 at the Eclipse Center in Beloit to learn more about their cooperative and participate in its governance.

Events like Member Appreciation Day, held Saturday, October 6, provide one key to understanding what makes a cooperative business different from all others. Each year, the co-op employees and board of directors play host to the members at this open house event that features free food, capital credit check distribution, a food drive, a health fair and much more.
