Rock Energy Co-op Budget Billing Details

Budget billing allows you to pay a set amount each month

Payment amounts are recalculated twice a year, in April and October

Electricity usage rises during our area's hot summer days. Natural gas usage rises, and stays high, throughout our cold winters, before dropping back to minimal amounts in the summer.

Under the Budget Billing plan, you pay the same amount each month. This allows you to budget your money easier and avoid those unpredictable peaks and valleys. If you are going to be away on vacation, travel for a living, or lose the bill, you always know what you need to pay.

You must be on our lines for at least six (6) months and have a good credit history before you could get on Budget Billing. When you first sign up for Budget Billing your amount due each month is calculated on your average usage over the previous twelve month period.

Bills Recalculated twice a year
To help ensure that what you pay continues to track your true usage, your budget payment amount is recalculated twice a year in April and October. At that time, we review your past energy use, average your total energy usage for the previous 12 months, and recacluate your new usage based on your past 12 month consumption history. Your budget amount could increase or decrease depending on your actual energy use over that previous twelve months.

If it's found that you've been underpaying the amount due, the difference between your budgeted amount and the amount actually due each month is added up, then divided by 12. That averaged amount is then added to your budget amount to arrive at a higher amount due each month.

If it's found that you've been overpaying the amount due, the difference between your budgeted amount and the amount actually due each month is added up, then divided by 12. That average amount is then deducted from your budget amount to arrive at a lower amount due each month.
